God's Golden Rules

Deuteronomy 28:

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all of the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God. You will be truly blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. The Lord will send a blessing on everything you put your hand to. If you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to Him, all the people on the earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord and they will fear you. Pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top and never at the bottom.

That is the word of God, isn't it amazing? God has blessed us with the ten golden rules to live a blessed life. The ten commandments can be found in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 5.

The Ten Commandments:

1. I am the Lord your God. Thou shall not have no other gods before me.

-God is the one and only. Always put Him first.

2. Thou shall not make any graven image and not bow down to them nor serve them.

-Do not idolize things of this world. Nothing should ever take the place of the one and only true God.

3. Thou shall not say the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

-Do not swear upon God nor call his name in vain.

4. Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it.

-Keep the Lord's day holy.

5. Honor your mother and father.

6. Thou shall not kill.

7. Thou shall not steal.

8. Thou shall not commit adultery.

-Adultery is sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse.

9. Thou shall tell the truth. Thou shall not lie.

10. Thou shall not covet.

-To covet is to envy.

God knows that no man is perfect. We are all sinners and God is the only perfect one, For this reason- he sent his only son to save us from our sins. The ten commandments are rules and guidelines to help us to live more like Christ as we live in an evil world.

Let's strive to obey God in this sinful world so that we can live a blessed life.
